We don't need football (your choice) riots. None of that special-occasion assault crap. If we have problems, we take care of it right then and there: road rage, drive-bys, mugging the pizza delivery guy, Desert Storm.

Never put off until tomorrow the attack you can perform immediately.

    What a country!

Guru. Watch any premier league match and you won't see any bottles flying onto the pitch every time a corner is taken.

Oh, dont even remind me of that match ... i almost broke my TV then The goal from Chivu was ... how do i say it ... an accident? No but seriusly, your National team played a very good game. I`m more angry at the approach the English had after they scored the second goal ....

            Dave,

Of course I was kidding. I really like McEnroe, but his attitude wasn't even close to good. Imagine if he had a better attitude how good he would have been....wow.

McEnroe and Jimmy Connors had a few good matches in their time, and Connors was a damn fine sportsman.

Universal Pictures announced today they plan to make a film of the momentous football match that took place on Saturday. "Five-One" is the tentative title of what could be next year's big summer hit, depicting the American national soccer team's stunning victory over Germany.

Nicholas Cage heads an all star cast as the captain of the brave US Soccer team haunted by the trauma of losing in the 2000 World Cup final on penalties and the death of his wife in a riot caused by English football hooligans, and finds love in the arms of a female sports journalist played by Julia Roberts. Mel Gibson is the no-nonsense Swedish coach who leads them to glory, with Keanu Reeves, Ben Affleck, Matt Damon and Will Smith playing some of Cage's heroic team mates.

Jeremy Irons is set to star as Sir Nigel Villiers-Smythe, the dastardly Englishman who coaches the German team and forces them to play with poisoned-tipped studs to try and cheat the heroic American team out of victory.

Director Steven Spielberg defended the film-makers' decision to focus on the American contribution to the victory over Germany and inaccurate and even imagined events in the story, saying, "Obviously we've had to take some artistic licence to make the story work on film, but I hope that what we produce will be true to the spirit of what happened on that famous night."

I watched that match too Helevitia. I usually root for Agassi when he plays, but in this case I couldn't decide who I wanted to see take it most. Even worse, they both hung on by a thread. As far as the win- I think it was more because Agassi messed up on his final serve (actually, returning the return was where he messed up, but..).

In any case, these are the two tennis players I enjoy watching the most, for the very reason you mentioned in your first post. They both are top-class competitors as well as having first-rate sportsmanship. Did you notice how gracious Agassi was when he hung around (a bonus point for him right there, alone) to be interviewed, and how he gave Pete that little word of encouragement right after the match (something like Win This Thing.., whispered in his ear).

I don't usually stick around to watch all parts of the tennis matches, just popping in from time to time to see who's winning and to see the finish, but this one had me glued to the boob-tube.
                        "..so much for subtlety.."

Who reckons that Connors was one the best returners of servers of all time?

Hey McEnroe lives he's just be renamed Andy Roddick. Sounded like a good game to me as well.

                            Ace,

Yes, Aggasi really showed the best sportsmanship I've seen from him. He has really changed his attitude the last 2 years. He used to be more into himself but he shined in this match. And yes, the comment was "go win this one". I too could not leave the TV, I skipped dinner in favor of the match.

                            Pit,

Aggasi is right on Connors heels as far as returns go.

btw-Tennis is being shown in HDTV. Man, I hvae HDTV but I can't see this because I dont have my antenna hooked up yet soon though.....

To be honest it's hard to compair as the todays tennis the speed of the serve has increased so much. Perhaps I should have said in his time.
I would like to see some todays pros with the old wooden rackets and cat gut.
