Wonder how they got out alive though, personally I would wipe the floor with someone that would do that to me.

The authorityes were alerted and after a few arrests these type of incidents stopped.
Amazing! I post that this is a hoax and then someone else posts that it REALLY happened to them in there neighborhood. Funny thing is, they talk about the club incidents in the link I posted above. Here is the part about the club:

    [Collected on the Internet, 1998]
Do you any of you guys like to go clubbing? Well you might want to think twice after this message. Just in case you don't already know, there is a certain group of people with stickers that say "Welcome to our world." Once this sticker is stuck on you, you contract the AIDS virus because it is filled with tiny needles carrying the infected blood. This has been happening at many dance clubs (even DV8 and Beatbox) and raves. Being cautious is not enough because the person just chooses anyone, and I mean anyone, as his/her victim. So you could just be dancing the night away and not even realize the sticker had been stuck on you. It sounds too demented to be true, but it's the truth. In fact my sister's friend knows someone who just recently contracted the virus in this manner. The world isn't safe anymore. Please pass this on to everyone and anyone you know.

As far as being cautious, it is always a good idea to be catious about anything, but this just scares people and gives people false information. After reading this post, I can now truely understand how these things get spread around.

Didn't actually bother to click on the link you posted, Dave.

This was a frequent subject for a couple of weeks in the news buletins of last year (here).
At first people were a bit scared, those stinted imediatly went to hospital to check if they really were infected.
After the first incidents got such attention from the media more started to pop up. Guess some freaks found enjoyment in doing it.
But after the first arrests they stopped.

What can I say, even news buletins could be a source of inspiration for some demented people.
Don't rule out the internet either as the initial source of inspiration.

          Ahem.

Your local news got it wrong, also victims of the hoax.

          IT NEVER HAPPENED.

Guess I sometimes have the talent of not making myself understood. I did start my first post with "Guess it's a hoax" though.
I never implyed that someone got infected, there were only scared people that thought it to be safe to take an AIDS test
And there were also demented people that thought this type of morbid joke is worth pulling. The first of these "jokers" might have inspired themselves from the internet, but the later ones clearly did it from the media.
I don't find enjoyment in practical jokes (if this can be classified as one), so I would feel like strangling a stranger who will sting me and say welcome to the AIDS club.
The jokes only stopped when the police made some arrest, maybe as a warning to others that would find themselves inspired for the moment.

I apologize to you and Dave for the confusing post(s)

              Admiral,

I'm not trying to single you or anyone else out, I am just trying to let people know that this stuff is usually fake. I guess its the years of getting these emails that started driving me crazy. So, no need to apologize about anything

No problem, just wanted to clear things.

A plausible scenario would be if a cure for AIDS were to be found (and sooner or later it would be) but the treatment would cost too much and not be available to all.
I'm saying this because just the other day I heard a report about the Romanian Leuchimia Pacients Asscociation struggling to get some new american drug (6 months old) on the Health ministry's (department's) compensated list. This way the product is either free with the state paying for the full cost or is partially compensated, pacient paying for part of the price and the state for the rest. This new treatment costs about 2000$ daily and with the 150$ monthly average wage here people could not afford it.

Now, apply the above to if an AIDS treatment would be found but it won't be free or it would go through much birocracy before it gets free. Imagine cases where desperate people would sting officials to get revenge or other people to get public attention.
