Actually, the Constitution exists, at least in part, to ensure that people are not policed as much as they want to be. It stands against the will of temporary majorities. We've seen stark evidence of how majorities are treated in elections when confronted with a Constitution that says otherwise. Majorities tend to lose.

Listen, there are people on both the right and the left who are concerned about the potential loss of liberties because of this fiasco. And it always seems to be the center that seems to lose perspective during times like this.

The price of freedom is less order and less security. I personally don't care what happens in airports (although I'm not crazy about the National Guard's role), but we have to be careful about what we permit our government to do in the name of protecting us.

Part of the reason they did what they are doing has been answered eariler in the thread...they want to protect their sources and keep what ever operations they have going secert. Also another thing to consider is that Bin laden has been indited for the attacks on the USS Cole and the embassy Bombings in Africa...so that is enough prof in my mind to get his ass....

The edvidence is there and others have seen it.

-In an interview with the BBC on Sunday, British Prime Minister Tony Blair said he has seen "absolutely powerful and incontrovertible evidence" linking bin Laden to the Sept. 11 attacks.
And here is another little news bit.

Pakistan has lent its backing to the United States in the confrontation over bin Laden, but outbursts of anti-American sentiment have the government worried. At a rally near the volatile border city of Peshawar on Monday, a prominent Pakistani cleric told hundreds of followers to kill any American they can find if Afghanistan comes under attack.

And when they get done with Bin Laden and his cronies they should make a left turn and head straight for downtown Baghdad. Then GWB can finish off what his daddy should have.

          Call it "preventive medicine".

Paraphrasing the name of this thread, I don't really want bin Laden, but this kind of bothers me...

Someday, we'll look back on this, laugh nervously and change the subject.

Forget "preventive medicine" and go straight to FINISH THE JOB.

The US has confirmed a report on FOX news 3 weeks ago that the head skyjacker and another member of Bin Ladens group met several times with an Iraqi Intelligence officer shortly before the events of 9/11.

A very respected investigative reporter has written a book firmly tying Iraq to the original WTC bombing. Her investigation is now convincing officials around the world that 9/11 was all about Iraq getting the job finished. Bin Ladens group was just the "hit man".

Next stop after Afghanistan - Bahgdad

Also, what's wrong with Putin being in Germany?

Russia has as much to lose here as anyone else. It's been shown that the problems they had in Checnya (?SP) were Bin Laden at work. They've also suffered bombings in Moscow and elsewhere that are also tied to his group. As such Russia has as much of a vested interest in controlling this nonsense as anyone else.

Also; their border is a lot closer to this stuff than ours is.

Do you really think this is how the map of Europe looks like? I mean, it's CNN, they really should not do this kind of mistakes.

That's CNN for you. Their political leanings are about as screwed as their map making. Here they were known as the "Clinton News Network" because of their "fairness" in reporting.

That's the liberial run media for you. Check out this piece of a news clip.

In Quetta, U.N. officials in contact with their Afghan workers confirmed that military preparations were evident, including the forced conscription of young men from all ethnic groups.

One European U.N. official, who like the others asked not to be named, said the Taliban was drafting youths from ethnic minorities with the apparent intention of placing them in front-line positions.
And the minute we attack, the news media will jump all over this and start BBQing the country they live in, about the US killing 'innocent' young men forced to shoot at us.

And unfortunately there is policy that we need to go in there with, because the other side will be following the same one, and that is 'take no prisoners'. Because they believe that they have got to fight us til either they die or we die.

Well, I'm kinda used to this "knowledge" of territories by TV channels so I really didn't think you meant this. Hey, you can see something similar on TV at least once a week (and no, not only on American "news" channels)....
I more thought you were bothered about Putin talkin against terrorrism - but as his speach was surprisingly well and especially of clear language (much better than that of ANY german politician at least) I didn't see what you were concerned about.

EDIT: I guess sometimes the swiss sure would like to a country as big as this. But then they'd lose all those nice skiing places...

Why does it bother you? People make mistakes all the time. It's part of being human. If we didn't make mistakes, the world would be boring.

Of course you think that "American residents" wouldn't know everything about geography in Europe, because the stupid Americans only care about the size of their houses, suv's, and their wife's breasts.
