And I was actually focussing on the fact that he's a coke addict.

If the laws he supported and passed while Governor of Texas were in place while he was using, he would still be in jail according to the sentencing guidelines.
Show me where he says he was a coke addict, or an article from any accredited news org. that claims so. I would be very interested.

He didn't "try it a few times". He went through some pretty extensive rehab, if I remember correctly. And he relapsed at least once.

He IS a coke addict. Stuff like that, you don't lose the addiction, you just keep ahead, at least for a little while. Complete abstension is kicking the habit, not the addiction. The same way AA members can't risk even one drink.

And I couldn't care less about marijuana use, at least, before the job. But I do see the hypocrisy in the Republican party lambasting Clinton about pot, and then suddenly shutting up when they nominate their own user, who is decidedly more hard-core.

You did not answer my question.

Keep evading, it makes you look real smart. Just like your buddy Clinton.

No one of us started bashing Clinton because of his Marijuana "episodes" but YOU were accusing GWB for having used Coke, and saying you "couldn't care less about marijuana use" in nearly the same sentence. And then talk about hypocrisy of others.. tss, tss, tss.

I got to thinking about this, and something strikes me. Clinton had been accused of cocaine use by a close person.

In July, 1996, the "Investors Business Daily" reported, "To grant security passes to some recent drug users, the White House overruled the Secret Service. Even when crack cocaine showed up in staffers’ FBI reports, the Clinton team issued passes." And, in March 1994, the "Wall Street Journal" reported, "Last week, Press Secretary Dee Dee Myers, acknowledged that she and more than 100 other White House staffers had failed to obtain permanent White House passes," including, apparently, the White House personnel chief. Why not? According to the "Washington Times," background checks disclosed use of "illegal drugs, convictions of drug offenses, alcoholism, and failure to pay federal or state income taxes."

Several people have claimed that Bill Clinton used cocaine, including Gennifer Flowers, his former mistress. And, in 1984, an Arkansas police detective recorded Clinton’s brother, Roger, doing coke, and saying, "I’ve got to get some for my brother. He’s got a nose like a Hoover vacuum cleaner." Unlike in Clinton’s case, no one, to date, claims to have witnessed Bush doing coke.

Something to chew on there, Rob.

That may be true. But it's the first I've heard of it. All of that information is awfully suspect though. And Roger Clinton has been caught lying to the cops recently, trying to avoid arrest (DUI?).

Of course it's the first you've heard of it. The media would also have you believe that ken starr's case was based on sex...

I wouldn't be a bit surprised to find out that Clinton was snorting coke while in office, it was even alluded to in some interviews. I mean look at how the guy acted. For someone as smooth and articulate as him to not know what "is" means and actually say that.....

GWB is not a junior. I can't believe people and some of the press are still referring to him as George Bush Junior and his father as G. Bush Senior.

Maybe it's just easier to say Junior than it is to differentiate George Walker Bush to George Herbert Walker Bush.

As for my opinions on the man & his presidency, I will refrain given the current situation. Regardless of how I feel about any given president, I believe the man in the office deserves a certain amount of respect.

Besides, given the posts so far, I'm not sure certain forum members are mature enough to discuss GWB's strengths/shortcomings in a rational manner.

Main reason I voted for him back in November was that I was tried of all the stupid shit that the previous adminstration was doing...and Gore would have been a extention of that...plus he didn't impress me much.

GWB might not be the best talker in the world compaired to Clinton, but hey hes impressed me more with his talk over the past couple weeks then he has before. he might have used some simplistic terms to describe things, but I find that more appealing since it doesn't stink of double talk or the what not if more PC terms where being used for the like.

He might not come across as the sharpest tool in the shed, but I know that he has a lot of good people working for him that have pently of experance in doing what needs to get done. I'm not too worried...yet.
