If you look at what was said, it was NOT Justification for the awful act, the slaughter of innocents....

It was at a different event, HOURS LATER when the Prince asked (by some stirring Jurnalist, probably) for his opinion. Perhaps he was taken 'out of context', perhaps it was unfortunate. I dont know.

The fact is that an offer was made by a person in good faith. The fact that he doesnt approve of all your governments actions does not make his money 'bad'.

You and many in these forui have complained about American policy in the past - does this mean that your donations to the relief fund (if you have made any) should be returned?

And the only thing keeping Israel in check at this time is the US. And as I have said before religiously the Jews have as much right to be there as the Muslims. It was the birthplace of their religion too.

But if you have really been reading close, Israel is only a small part in this. His ultimate goal is to control the oil fields in Saudi Arabia and he knows that the US is the only thing that stands in his way. Israel could care less if they destory each other just as long as they are left alone. He thinks that by controling the oil fields that he will by able to control the world. But the only way he can manage to do this is by calling this a holy war with the hope of getting enough Muslims to support him. But what the idiot fails to realize is we don't really need that oil. We have massive reserves, a large number of capped oil wells that can be put into production, and a major oil deposit within our own borders just waiting to be tapped. The Saudis know this and I can guaranty you that deep down inside they don't want us to go. Plus they don't have the military might to combat Saddam.

As for oil....

The US reserves are, almost exclusively low grade oils which must be mixed with others for effective distilation. Alaskan fileds, I believe are the exception.

Brent (North Sea in the UK) is the reverse. Because of its high Volitile content, it must be mixed with heavier oils to produce an economic mix for distilation.

The US would be self sufficient in oil for many years if the price exceeded $50 a barrel, aparently. (the US governments figures - not mine, but I cant find the URL)
at this price, hoewver you would be looking at TRIPLEING your costs on Petrol - you economy (and the worlds) could not take that for a sustained period. This would draw the world in tho the 'mother of all resscions' (a bin laden/Saddam Hussain victory?)

The UK could be self sufficient in oil for about 20 years, with current known reserves, but it would be somewhat less economic.

There is a reason why the US is a net-importer of all (40 PC of national consumption) - economics.

I was not aware of newsmax prior to this thread, I cant comment. I note, however your Time article, and must say I find it a good read. I do not agree that CNN is particularly biased, I think you are saying that because it does not present the view you are looking for.

You could try Sky news, which I find pretty unbiased or the BBC New service (now 24 hour and online). (they had some great coverage of an abrams emptying its bow machine gun on some stone throwers the other day)

Would you attack a country directly that you feel would 'press THE button?' (India & pakistan do seem to be an exception - both have Nukes, though neither has lrbm capable of launching them) Its what the cold war was about! America wouldnt attack ANY nuclear capable country (even it it was supporting terrorists). Of course not. Thats why some muslim countries support terrorists against Israel. Its deniable.

Its not because its the birthplace of their religion, Joel, though Christ is seen as a prophet in the Muslim faith, its because the Muslims were displaced in 1948 to set up the state, they are forced to live in camps, with land that they owned being settled on by 'foreigners'. For every Jewish settler who died in israel, around 6 palestinians have been killed. That is why they are pissed.... its not just about religion. The UN has aknoweleged this.
