I'm not taking a position on what to do about this matter, although, again, I'm all for blowing up fascists whenever the opportunity arises. I'm just saying that we started the Spanish-American War.

Also, I think sending anthrax to the National Enquirer isn't all that bad an idea, although sending it to Congress, NBC, and CBS is a little beyond the Pale.

Joel - the USA or the USSR has started almost every war since the second, as Wombat says, behind the scenes. Both countries have been the 'puppetmasters'.



The fact the USA has not necessarially declared war openly is neither hear nor there.


I think that since the USA has been founded, it has launced more direct 'wars' than any other nation on Earth. (discounting Civil wars)

WOMBAT has the list below, but I would add to it, citing your war on your own Indian Peoples, Grenada, Panama (again), Korea.

The fact that these scraps took place are not USA bashing. They are examples of the USA expressing its might upon another country, right or wrong is not the point.

Well I am glad that y'all did answer my questions an I will do a little research based on what y'all said. My memory of ancient history may not be all that great.

But the point remaines that Isreal, the Palistienians, and religion are all just excuses to try to and get support for what Osama has done and what he's trying to do. The fact still remaines that his ultimate goal is to try and run the US out of the Middle East so he can try to reconguer all of the Middle East and control all of it's nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons. And do you really think for one minute that he will stop there?? Hell no, this guy is crazy.

And if trying to get people to stop killing each other is being a bully then so be it. What are we suppose to do. Stand by and just look on as the Jews are slaughtered?? But then again maybe we should just pull out and let them totally destory themselves then we won't have to worry about the Middle East ever again. Joel - I AGREE with you.... OBL is trying to get the USA and Western influences out of the middle east.....

It is not, as I understand it, part of his plans to conquer anything. His organisation is aimed at removing western & Russian influence from the region, not to remove or remodel the map of the middle east.

I am not sure that he is totaly crazy either, rather he seems to be more of an obsessive in his method.

Being sane is all the more reason to ensure that he is stopped.

I am just not sure that blowing the crap out the 4th poorest country on the planet (one almost in the stone age already) will do much else other than 'trip the trigger' of those who have a grudge already.

BTW I dont think that this Anthrax is necessarily from his organisation. This has always focused on big events in his terror campaign- the bombing of bases in Saudi, the attacks on embassies in Africa, American Missile Ships, the World Trade Centre. This may be agents some other state launching these. Perhaps Lybia/Iraq/Iran/Syria/Chechnya/lots of African countries.

Hmmm......taking it a bit back, but have you considered the many times in the last 100 years that the US has come to the aid of other nations under attack or occupation, direct or by proxy;

Europe (Germany/Axis, TWICE!!)
North Africa (Germany/Axis)
The Pacific rim nations (Japan)
Korea (China/Russia)
Bosnia (Serbia)
AFGHANISTAN (Al Qaeda)
Kuwait (Iraq)
Grenada (Cuba)
etc. etc.

VietNam was a civil war we should not have gotten involved with, but then Pres. Johnson was an arrogant ****ole so that figures.

And lest we forget; much of the famine and disaster relief work done around the world is paid for either by the US proper, either directly or through the UN, or by US contributions through NGO's and relief or religious organizations.

I`m annoyed by statements like : "We never made any mistakes", "We never started a war", "We never screwed up".

Driving a guy to a hospital after beating him to death doesnt exactly "erase" the fact that you did beat him to death.
