A stone is 14lbs. (or 6.4kg for you weirdos. Metric is for physics calculations. :P )

To get a more precise number, taken from a Dutch to English dictionary dated 1955 (it's falling apart at the seams ), one stone=14 pounds, written 14 lbs. = 6.35 kilograms
If you're American it's 100 lbs.
If you're British it's 112 lbs.

I think in metric now. I have no problems converting between metric and english units. Metric is simpler and better period. End of discussion. Oh and I won the spelling bee too hehe. Poor spelling is painful to read.
1cwt=112 lbs.
1 ton=2240 lbs
1 tonne =1000kg=2204.61 lbs approximately

<Yes, I'm aware my last post was grammarically incorrect.>

I was just kidding about the metric system thing. I didn't know it would spur a whole debate
I would, however, like to get to the bottom of the whole "billion" issue. The UK billion is WAY more than the American "billion" (or is it the other way around?).
