Whether a car is just a rebadged anything doesn't really matter. If it's a nice car, it's a nice car, plain and simple. Maybe it's not as nice as a BMW, but I wouldn't complain if I had either of them. While I think the styling on the newer BMW's is fantastic, I also think the styling of an IS300 is fantastic. It's a very capable car, and not nearly as many of them on the roads. I see so many BMW's on the roads these days that I'm getting tired of seeing them.....*

I'd rather have an Audi S4 over a BMW or Lexus, though. Not sure if they're sold as S4's in Europe.....but a twin turbo 6 with quattro could be fun.

Yeah, Ferarris are pretty nice, but compare to a McLaren F1, well, there's no real comparison, but they're all nice cars. **

      * This should be read....I'm getting tired of seeing other people in them, and not me!

** But a BMW or Lexus or Audi would suffice

LOL, Maggi. The other good advice a friend gave me was to not start "tuning" the car, and that I'd spend more than I paid for the car itself. I'm guessing that upgrade would do it.

Impact: While there's certainly no substitute for good driving, the dynamic stability control on the new 3-series BMWs makes it nearly impossible to break the rear wheels loose in a turn. It's pretty impressive. Of course if you want to spin donuts you can always turn it off . It's great at high speeds. At low speed and cornering VERY hard on a bumpy turn it gets a bit grabby, but still very tough to spin it. Trust me, I've tried (I work around a vacant industrial complex, lot's of safe, tough driving). Go drive one and tell the dealer you're interested in the DSC.

And Volvo's are no doubt super safe, and I think better family cars. I considered (briefly) an S60. Glad to see Volvo's updating their design. But the 3-series have fantastic safety ratings too. I drove the CEO of my company's BMW 540. My impression of that thing? Not as fun as my 330, but I swear, I felt like I could hit a brick wall head on at 100 mph and walk away from it! I can't imagine what the 750's are like.

Anyone see Ronin? I want that supercharged Audi S8.. If BMW would make a 4WD M5, though.. THAT would be the ultimate automobile.

As for a Vulvo.. well, I'd just feel like a man in a boat driving one of those..

Come on, If you drive a Volvo S60 T5, you will NOT fell like a man driving a boat. I guarantee you that, it's almost as fun to drive that car as it is to be driving a BMW 330i. You just feel the raw power when the turbo kicks in.

Note that i said "almost" not "as" fun as driving a BMW.

I don't like Turbos at all. Rather have a real strong engine and instant acceleration than those 1-2 seconds (O.K. I know its not that long, but it FEELS like it was ) gap you are experiencing with Turbos.

And, yes the 330 is VERY nice (I have the 330Ci), it especially features one of the best / most exact manual gears of all cars I've driven up to now (well, maybe the new M5 is even slightly better).

I never understood what they thought when they designed it:

interesting question - but it means powered by US budweiser...

but here is neither budweiser really available - to many good local breweries

like "stiegl", founded in the same year a certain continent was discovered...

should that lead to an "drunk&drive" thread?
