Coffee is different here in Europe. It´s Italian-style, small and strong. We don´t drink it like a cup of tea, here it´s really a small quantity of liquid and lots of caffeine. Also, it has creamy bubbles on top (I don´t know how to say it in english). It´s like this:
"Perhaps they communicate by changing colour? Like those sea creatures .."
"Lobsters?"
"Really? I didn't know they did that."
"Oh yes, red means help!"
Alec,
We have "Italian style" here as well. Cappocinos, and espressos, etc. In fact, we're probably going to overtake them soon. It's a two-pronged attack. Our standard coffee cup is becoming stronger all the time, and we keep serving espresso in larger and larger cups.
P.S. The word you're probably looking for is "froth".

The coffee you are talking about, sounds good to me!!!
(I usually drink the stuff by the mug, its the coffee Aribica stuff for me...(get the shakes without it, get the shakes with it!!! )
I have a Nef espresso maker myself, you know they type (semi- industrial) I usually make 2-3 espresso cups worth (with only 1 charge of coffee), in a mug, with a splsh of milk, no sugar
