Nope. Vandalism, bombs and bullets fall under the Comprehensive auto coverage. Same as rocks through the window.

I thought acts of terrorism and war weren't covered by most policies? So, if the companies aren't gonna pay out, why have higher premiums? Still, you can sometimes get massive changes in premiums just by moving to the other side of the street if it is in a different postcode.

It can't be excluded as an Act of War if there isn't a nation to declare war against. There aren't any terrorism clauses in any policy I've had.

No declaration of war or specific exclusion for terrorism damage should make damages from "the troubles" vandalism and be covered under the comprehensive portion of the policy.

The only thing that might not be covered are some "acts of God"...probably their asteroid impact clause

Raising rates here for just moving across the street would likely bring on a charge of "redlining", an illegal act under our insurance laws. Redlining was used to discriminate against various groups (or even whole cities) in the past by charging excessive rates, even if they were just across the street from a city with lower rates.

Apart from vandalism theres also the chance that some chaps in balaclavas might borrow your car, bung a few bags of homemade semtex in the back and park it next to a police station or something.
Insurers will take any excuse to increase premium prices, although when it comes to paying out they are remarkably reticent.

The real con of auto insurance is when they base your premium (in part) on the value of your car - then when you claim for stolen/written off car, they dont pay you the same value they made you pay to insure for.

My real hate is when insurance companies charge you more that the value of the car. So you buy a car for £200 quid and get charged £600. Of course you don't buy it and there excuse is you're paying for the possiblitly of damaging other cars.
How about when you change jobs and you go from a low risk to a high risk. You're still the damn same person but no you've got to pay up the bucks.
