It's a lot of money involved...but you have to agree it's the most beautiful game on this planet.

Yeah, but Live TV's Topless Darts used to come close.

Fair point, but when you think about it, the real top-level footballers on £20k a week arent likely to be the ones that need the PFAs help when they retire or get injured.
By going out on strike, they are in fact sticking up for their lower paid brethren, the guys down in the lower divisions or non-league who dont get paid anymore than Joe Average.

Anyway, why should top players have to pay more than anyone else, just because they can?
David Beckham might earn 100x more than me, but he doesnt have to pay £30 for a newspaper does he?

Even if you say "Fixed Percentage", for a footballer on £20k a year, the £75 PFA subscription is about 0.375% of their yearly wage.
If Mr Beckham pays the same 0.375% of his £50k a week salary, thats about £9750 a year.
Its still a lot less than the rise in TV money the PFA are demanding.

Anybody can agree that the amounts of money in football on a proffessional level, is getting obscene. The amounts of money involved now is multiple times greater than it was ten years ago. And the question is if Mr Beckham (even if he is the best player in the world) is worth the £100 000 week salary he is demanding to sign a new contract with Man Utd. If Utd doesn't give him that wage then there are ten more clubs in the Premiership, Spain and Italy that will be more than happy to give him that.

Football is the biggest attraction on this planet and there are billions of people that have either love or play the game around the world, many millions pay a very high percentage of their salary for season tickets, the teams ("companies") are taking more and more money for tickets, and still people give all they have to watch the games. TV stations pays amounts that look like telephone numbers for the rights to broadcast the games, and charge accordingly from peaple that wants to see the games on PPV and so on, and so on. It has become a multi billion dollar industry over the last decades, and we the ordinary fans are more or less to blame for that.

Well with a £100.000 a week he can afford to make up the differance. Anyway it's now over and there has been a settlement.
