Where are the banners?

Yes, I know that we went onto a new forum-provider, which might be shitty as hell, but that doesn't say we couldn't give Ant a lot of support by trying to give him banners.

And yes, I know a lot of you hate banners so much, that you wish they never would appear here again.

But just think MURC-ies, that Ant has spent a lot of his own money on these forums, and I think it's just about time we try to pay him back. With all the bandwidth going through these forums, and moderators closing down their banner killers for just a week or 2 per 6 weeks, I think and hope we can give MURC another year or 2, maybe 3.

Ofcourse, if you don't want the banners back, then it's always a good idea to do a backtrace on the forums and send money or a check to Ant in person.

I think and feel deeply that we should support Ant through and through.

Now what is your excuse?

I'll take banners back. If I could afford extra expenses for the sites I like to visit, I'd send him a check instead though! (I tolerate banners because I KNOW I can't afford to pay to use a site any more than he can really afford to have a site without some sort of compensation).

he paid a year in advance....and prolly wont be eligible for a refund. We just need to keep an eye open for a good deal as I see it.....adding banners now will get him income he could stash for later....as in host it locally himself.....or move to better server early....but it is his forums....and if he needs the hand...I'm for it

Why not start a MURC sponsorship?

Kind of like what Ars does.

Add a few sponsor only forums, custom names, etc. for the sponsors....just a thought.

First of all, MURC is NOT a fan site. It's a Matrox Users group.

Secondly, if we took money from Matrox, then MURC would no longer be independent....shiver...

Sponsorship is a cool one that I haven't heard of before.

However, isn't there some site, cafepress, or something? I'd pay exorbitant prices for a MURC mousepad/T-shirt/coffee mug. amdzone.com seems to be doing well along this line: they just started selling mousepads.

Banners really don't bother me at all. I say put em up and keep em up. Most times I visit a site I like I make a point to find and click on any banners they have up, it really is the least I can do. Hell i'd rather see pop-ups than see the forums go.
