The trick is to only sleep on the straight aways.

I did it once, and got into an accident. Never again.

        Yup.

Fallen well halfway asleep and drove through a red light. It was late at night after working 12 hours after over a week of very long days.

None of the above. I drove very tired once or twice but luckily never had an accident.

Same here - I've a few times driven to university (around an hour's drive - 50 miles) early in the morning a bit tired, but if I were about to fall asleep I'd pull over!

Sound asleep driving a 64,000 lb concrete pump many times.

Guys, you just have the wrong cars. When I'm driving, there's no chance I'll ever fall asleep....

I once had a girlfriend who lived 4.5 hours away. Too many weekend trips where I had to drive home exhausted. Luckily I never had an accident, but I did have a couple of close calls. Now whenever I get sleepy I pull over into a rest station and catch an hour of shut-eye before continuing.

Pulling over is good option but what the hell do you do when you've got no where to pull over and it's illegal to stop ?
Long stretches of Motorways in the UK haven't got any resting places and if you went on the hard shoulder you're likely to be squashed by a sleeping lorry driver on a double shift with taco graph removed.

I am not sure if thats quite how you spell it, but the nacho graph is the box that records how far you've driven, at what speed and when ya did it.

Couldn't you exit the motorway and find a small town or side street where you could stop for a snooze?
