I'm sure that was the little waiter type guy from Fantasy Island. The same guy who played Scaramanga's assistant in the Bond film 'The Man with the Golden Gun'.

Herve' has been dead for years.
I think he suicided in the 90s, after a dismal fall from his Fantasy Island (da plane) fame.

I remember back in the early 60's when my parents bought our first 'color' TV. You know the kind. The ones that took about 5-10 mins. to warm up before you ever saw the picture.

I remember remote controls as a kid.. but only my parent's rich friends had them, and then only for their TVs. They were big and bulky and made the channel knob turn physically with a big CLUNK up there on the TV.

I remember being able to bounce the remote beam off a mirror to get that big clunky knob on the TV to change... thought that was the greatest thing!

I can remember remote controls before IR but without wires. They used HF sound in the form of air-bulbs with a dog whistle type affair attached. Very high tech at the time

And how many of us 30-somethings had parents who kept the remote ON TOP OF THE TELEVISION!!!? Mine still do that with the hi-fi!

I have one that's going to scare a lot of us when it gets on the list in about...6 years.

I lived in West Germany from 1966 to 1970.
I would love to go back for a visit.
Once while I was in Berlin in about 1968 the eastern police
took me off of the bus as we were leaving East Berlin.
They started asking me a lot of questions. For a while there
I didn't think they were going to let me out.

It would feel realy strange and good to be able to just
step back & forth over the former line.
