  • BT Sucks freeserve crawls

Suffering the latest bouts of BT capping my connection due too much use I'd reckoned I'd try freeserve since it's free for a month.
Well you can always connect unlike BT but it chugs too point of being useless anyway.
I wish adsl would come down in price.

How much do ADSL cost for you?
If there's artificial intelligence, there's bound to be some artificial stupidity.

Jeremy Clarkson "806 brake horsepower..and that on that limp wrist faerie liquid the Americans call petrol, if you run it on the more explosive jungle juice we have in Europe you'd be getting 850 brake horsepower..."

ADSL is not an option for me.
However flat rate is and with the size of phone bills before I went that route, was my only option.
      Give virgin.net a go.
I'm paying I believe it's £15.99 per month, that gaves me free access 24/7.
You have to have a BT line as it's part of this SurfTime things, although Virgin differs from the others I saw as you sign up exclusively through Virgin, no having to contact BT as well - they need the phone number you will be calling from during registration as your number is ID'ed before connection.
Oh and of course you have the usual 2hr of use before disconnection but allowed to re-dial straight way that you normally get with un-metered access.

I've been using them for just over a month now and I've never heard an engaged tone and the speed is great, well as great as you can get with a modem.
It cost one penny to cross, or one hundred gold pieces if you had a billygoat.
Trolls might not be quick thinkers but they don't forget in a hurry, either

The cost is £40.00 per month at present plus £150 install fee and you have to use for a year or the boys with base ball bats come around. Then of course you need a proper firewall on top of that.
Just given Freeserve the boot. The nice lady said we can give you a different number to solve the problem. Mmm didn't BT do that on me before. Yup. So I said no thanks just cancel the account.
Although BT can be an arse to connect too once you're on it's fairly quick.
They are rumours that BT may bring the overcharging down to £25.00. If it does I may twitch at that.

Not bad but I think they'll be further reductions in the near future.

I live in Britains newest city and am only 1.5 km away from my nearest digital exchange. Unfortunately all the cabling in my estate is routed to one nearly 6 km away. What a pisser. I had a BT engineer come round about 6 months ago to install it. He connected his laptop to the telephone line and the USB modem light stayed green. "Perfect", he said,"should'nt be a problem. Just let me ring HQ so they can do a line test". My telephone line had a 60db line loss. The maximum they would accept was 59. No adsl for me. What annoys me most is that I would have happily paid the price they were asking.
