Does the private soldier have loyalty to the Queen or his chairman or wallet?

The British army doesnt need mercenaries. Much (but not all) of what the Brits will be doing in the next 20 years is helping the US with scenarios like Afghanistan etc. There are very few countries in the world who have the ability to do that. Mercenaries with their usual lack of discipline and training arent the type we need. What would really help us out would be the EU pulling their finger out and utilising some of the several million soldiers that they have available.

Unfortunately Jack Straw, the chap who proposed this is really one dumb mother f**ker. How anyone so talentless as this chap can get into politics confounds me.
