If you truly had faith in your religion, you would not hide from your statements. Arguing/discussing, giving up when dealing with non-believers, explaining, getting mad, etc . . . are all reasonable courses of action. Hiding from your beliefs for any reason only serves to weaken your position in everyone's eyes. Most people even if they strongly disagree with you would at least respect your position, but if you are going to be fake you lose respect.

. . . I have had experience dealing with these types of people though in an extreme. My Aunt and Uncle are notorious with this type of attitude claiming to be good holy people yet they mistreated their kids and disowned the oldest daughter when she moved out at age 18. She was essentially excommunicated yet they still talk to her brother who left home much younger. They never even showed up at any of the court appearences and lost all parental rights. Yet, they still call and even got pictures taken.

It's no wonder so many people are anti-Christian and anti-religion in general. The people who tend to push Christianity are often those we would not want to have in any way associated with ourselves, such as Jerry Falwell or any of the other fakes out there. Those of you with hippy parents or who had otherwise no religious background growing up have been exposed to all the negatives but experienced none of the positives for yourselves. This is all I will say about the matter.
