No conversation about the sale of death would be complete without mention of fast food companies. They don't just sell death, they sell recurring healthcare problems.

Why do today what you can put off until tomorrow? But why put off until tomorrow what you can put off altogether?
right on spoogenet the whole food industry is a disgrace what with pesticides , hormone injectioons and antibiotics now used as though they were required for the food to be grown its no wonder the health problems that people are getting are proliferating. if you need any convincing on health issues with modern day food just read "fats that heal, fats that kill" by Udo Erasmus. its very enlightening. at least you can retire to your house if you dont wanna inhale smoke fumes, we all gotta eat!
is a flower best picked in it's prime or greater withered away by time?
Talk about a dream, try to make it real.
Everything will kill you these days. I smoked for 17 years. But I don't blame the cigarette manufacturers. I blame myself. It was my choice to make.
It was a freedom I had. I was the idiot that started. But I also quit smoking almost a year ago. Something I should have done a long time ago.
But I'm not going to blame anyone other than myself for the risks I ran and the money I spent.
Anyone who blames their smoking on the cigarette companies are full of shit. It's their own fault they started.

"You make me hornier before 9 AM than most
people do all day!"
Most addicts I've known in my 30 years in medicine that were long term sucesses quit cold turkey. They just stopped and dealt with withdrawl using sheer will power.
A daily watching the first segment of the movie "Cat's Eye" and putting yourself James Woods' place can do wonders as well...
I smoke, it was my choice to start, knowing all the risks, and I enjoy it. If I could go back to the beginning though, I would not start at all. Each time there is a tax rise (I am in the UK!) on the little cylinders of pleasure, I think about quitting. Have not followed through yet though, except for the occasional period.
The best advice to give to anyone is, as above, DON'T START! Once you have started, you are on your own. Nobody to blame but yourself. Yes it is addictive, but actually the fear of what happens during "cold turkey" is much worse than the reality. The hardest thing to break is the associations with other actions/places/people.
Oh for the days when you could go to a pub, buy a pack of cigs and a round of drinks, and still have change from a fiver...

What do you guys recommend for quiting??????
Paul I have quit twice. Both times I used the patch. Nicoderm. Works really well.
But I do believe as Dr Morbid said, you need the Will. I know the patch gives you something, and I believe that half of what it gives you is psychological reassurance, but if you aren't ready, the patch won't make you more ready.
The patch will control the mood swings that most will experience.
The first time I went back was for extremely stupid reasons. I think I just wanted to go back and was looking for an excuse.
As GNEP said, I enjoyed it.
But I am more focussed this time.
Last time I gained 35-40 lbs. Which by now, 4 years later I have pretty much lost. This time, I have lost 5 pounds since I quit last.
Joined a gym and started eating right.
Had a child in December. More responsibilities. And I want to be around to see her grow up.
PS: Don't take me wrong. I'm not into preaching about quitting smoking. I still love to be around smoking and smelling the smoke as it ocassionally goes up my nose. Never get tired of that smell.
