In protest of the use of Indian names used for sport teams I heard this story not long back about a group who tried to turn the tables by naming their team "The fighting Whiteies". Seem they can't make the t-shrits fast to keep up with the demand.

That same story made the news here, because something similar is happeneing at a local high school here in the town of Eaton, Colorado. Their teams is named the Reds.

So a local radio morning show took it upon themselves to start a campaign to have the name changed from the Eaton Reds to the Eaton Beavers.

Speedy Rescued

After pulling the Looney Tunes character Speedy Gonzales off the air for more than three years out of concern that he would be regarded as a Mexican stereotype, Turner Broadcasting's Cartoon Network has reconsidered its decision and will bring him back, the New York Daily News reported today (Thursday). Laurie Goldberg, a spokeswoman for the cable network told the newspaper, "With the sudden interest in the [Speedy cartoon shorts], we decided to rotate it in and see how it does."
