I was the third offical member of the MURC Forums. There is only two ppl who have been here longer than me. Flangor Strongaxe the first admin/mod and Ant the host at the time. I can go so far as to say that I witnessed it's very conception in April 1998. Here are a couple of e-mails between Ant and myself in April of that year.

        Sent to Ant on 4/19/1998

I just would like to say that I think this is a great site and I hope you all will keep up the good work. I think the new design on the site is good.

If I may I would like to offer a couple of suggestions. 1) I've seen other product sites using the product's logo and was wonder if the new Matrox logo could be deplayed on this site. I think the new logo is cool looking. 2) Is there a possibility of a users forum being added to this site for Matrox users espeically now that Matrox is moving into the 3D arena.

Like I said the site is great.

        gilchrjh@sprynet.com

P.S. The Matrox G-200 is looking very good. Just read the preview article in the latest issue of BOOT magazine and all I can say is WOW!

        Recieved from Ant on 4/20/1998

        Hi Joel

thanks for the suggestions, I've been toying with the idea of a web based forum, I may remember to do something about it one day Oh I'm getting a G200 tomorrow so keep an eye on the site for some interesting developments.

        Ant

Then during the later part of April, Flangor Strongaxe, along with Ant's help and my encouragement, opened the first offical MURC Forums. A lot of changes have occured over the years and I have seen a lot of ppl come and go, but IMO the underlying sprit of these boards continues to live on. A site deicated to Matrox users who not only come here for help but also come here to help.

Hehe. I have no idea how long I've been here, but I know for sure that Rags, Greebe, Gurm, Joel, Ant, and a LOT of others beat me to it. Even after I first started visiting, I think it was several months before my first post (I used to lurk and pick up fixes and tips long before I started putting in my own $.02).

I have to 4,632,654th the post where it's said that the spirit of this place is the same. I'm glad to be able to come to a site where people don't automatically flame me because I don't currently have a Matrox card in my PC(erm, I do though right now, ironically enough), and the friendships (close acquaintences if you think friendship is too strong a word) is what has kept me coming back all this time.

Funny, every time i read this topic I seems to missidentifie the subject:

"I have been on the forums for two years"

                  becomes:
I haven't been on the forums for two years

I honestly can't remember when I first registered. I do know I was the 19th user to re-register back in '99, 'cause that's my user number (hover your mouse over the "profile" button to see someone's user number). I know I started coming here a few months before the G200 was released, but I can't remember any more specifically than that.

I was here from some weeks before G400 was released. Started to post under this Account january 2001. I remember the G800 speculations from last winter (CeBit 2001) that was very funy!

Now we'll hopefully soon get something new to talk about, and I belive there will be alot of persons in this forum!

                        hmm...interesting thread

I started coming here about 1-2 months before the G200 was released I remember the plethora(sp?) of news that Flangor would post and I would greedily read it every day I also remember when the G200 OGL fiasco was happening and I posted my thoughts in a thread about how I would be forced to change to another video card manufacturer if the issue wasn't resolved soon. Ant then posted that on the front news page. Funny part is, it was all hype and it really wasn't a big deal not to have the OGL drivers back then for me anyway. And guess what, here I am, many years later after my Mystique, G200, G400, and soon to be Parhelia

Hmm I think I started coming here late in 1997 after getting my then New G200 Marvel and Vodoo 2 SLI setup. I remember seeing my old mans ATI All in Wonder Card and saying to myself hey I want to get one of those till I saw the Review of the Marvel on Andadtech...then the rest is history. I remember the good old GA forums and all the problems we had with them and the G800 rumors since almost 2 years ago. This place remains my first stop for any computer related problems that I might run across at work/home. Thankfully we dont have a bunch of people who act like they are 12 yrs old and lash out when ever they feel like it...unless its for a good reason

That reminds me of when I arrived. I had been a Matrox user for a long time, and I don't remember how I happened upon the forums, but it was the amusing spectacle of the idiocy of one named tylau being verbally hung out to dry by Rags and others here that inspired me to hang around.

Got a Mystique way, way back when, but didn't find these forums until a month after I bought my Marvel G200. I really don't remember those early days.
