goes up to 60C under 100%... so thats bad then (the specs on the AMD site say its OK up to 90 degrees).. thought it might not be good. OK taken the case off and will check again later... aha down by 1 degree so far

So what is a good temperature? I have an XP1600 on an EPOX KHA+. I have been looking at other fans but was after something quiet.

OK so now we are running at 45C for the CPU and 38 for the case. The case I gather wont go down as much as there is no flowing of air now.

I think I am going to have to do some damage to my case - cant have it like an oven in there for a new card.

I wouldn't worry about it... I have a really nice looking black case that wasn't designed for anything as hot as an original athlon 1400 and it runs idle at 58c ... under full load it hits a ceiling of 79 or so...

I would care.. but ask me how much I paid for it and you would see why it does not matter... besides... I put a little cage on the back of the comp over the PS heatsink and a thin Aluminum Cup holder on the top of the case.. so when I get up in the morning... all I have to do is pour some water into a cup with instant coffee and put it up there.. slide a slice of bread into the grill and voila... by the time I am done checking e-mail and surfing new messages at MURC I have my breakfast ready.

As for how much I paid...

Paid isn't the right term for it... I perfer to call it wheelin and dealin... and winning (How about 0 dollars down, 0 downpayment, and 0 dollars outstanding)
