Hmmm.

Personally, I like Episode II, but probably only because it was forshadowing 4-6 with Anakin's journey to the dark side. On it's own it was a special effects movie with very mild characterizations.

saw it on saturday and i've mixed feelings.

It is an entertaining movie, if you don't know episodes 4-6 (i agree to a review i read somewhere, that the movie is like a computer game with lots of levels and with Dooku as final boss).

But on the other side, there are so much scenes, that make no sense to me and i believe that George just put them in to show us, what he can do (and what he can't do, some of the CGI's were horrible, i.e. Anakin riding a giant tick).

For example, why can R2D2 fly????? In Episode 4 he has to roll on his wheels all the way through the desert, but he can fly 20 or 30 years earlier? Or at Yoda's asylum planet, he has to swim to the shore from the x-wing.

And my personal opinion about Yoda vs Dooku: sucks big time.

Come on, he humbles all the way, then doing a Bruce-Lee-impersonation (only thing missing was Bruce Lee's wave with the fingers to his opponent), then he jumps around like .... hmmm .... oh my god, i just realised that Lucas revelead the biggest secret in the universe: Yoda is Flubber's father !!!!

And the very convincing phrase of Dooku gave it the rest (or started the mess): "we can't decide it with our forces, let's decide with the sabers" (or so, can't remember the original text)

If he would have left all this nonsense out, the movie would get much better critics in my opinion (and would have been shorter, 2 1/2 hours are way too long).

But there are good moments in the movie, especially when Padme shows us her n.....

See, the problem is that George is not a good director. He doesn't deal with actors well. The best work in the series was Episode 5. Episode 6 was well done, but the Ewoks were a bit much.

There was a lot left out. For example, in the book it is explained that Yoda quite purposely limps and hobbles along in order to be underestimated. In fact, the reason he starts limping again after dispatching Dooku is that Anakin has been openly critical of Yoda's abilities, thinking him strong in the force but weak in a fight.

*shrug* There were a lot of good scenes that got cut in favor of giant-tick-riding. Grr...

A lot of the CGI in this movie looked a bit out of place. Episode 1, despite Jar-Jar being quite irritating, was very well done in terms of all the CGI looking like it belonged in the scene. Many of the monsters in this one (especially the tiger beast in the arena, and the giant ticks) just looked out of place.

Yoda himself looked a little too cartoony. We know Lucas can do better. What's the deal? *sigh*

I saw the movie Saturday night with my GF...who has no clue about Star Wars, which kind ruined the movie for me. Overall it wasn't too bad..better then the first one, but no where near the Eposode 4 through 6 Movies.

I have a couple questions about the movie though..The Clonetroopers look alot like the Stormtroopers in the later movies. Are they one in the same? I was told they weren't since most of them where destoryed in the Clone Wars (duh! ) next question has to do with Jango/Boba Fett...I would assume that the guy who played Jango in this movie would come back and play Boba Fett in the 3rd movie..since they are clones.

Oh some spectuation here....the Clonetroopers where created by a Jedi by the name of S-something or another...The other Jedi thought he was killed 10 years ago (right around the time of creation of the Army), I'm starting to think this guy is Darth Sidious and Darth Sidious has of clone of himself in the form of Plaplatptine in the Republic Senate that lacks Jedi Powers since the Jedi Concil can't pick up on what hes doing....comments?

I think "darth sidious" and palpatine is the same person, and i also think he is the former jedi master, "syfu dias"(spelling?), who faked his own death 10 years earlier, he appears to be strong in the force in episode 6.

Actually there has been a lot of speculation over at theforce.net on these questions. Some thoughts:

Clones/Stormtroopers:

Some say that the Stormtroopers are all clones. But I don't think they are. I tend to think that the first stormtroopers are the remnants of the clone troopers.

Jango/Boba:

Yeah, they'll probably keep that actor, despite the lawsuits.

Sifo Dias (sp?):

Probably NOT Palpy/Sidious. Lucas has an ongoing "people only have 2 identities" theme going on. It was probably an underling, impersonating a very real Jedi master. Palpy and Sidious are, in my opinion, the same person.

I've heard the same thing about Palpy/Darth Sidious being one in the same...but the question arises..why can't the Jedi Consule pick up on him being evil?

Luke Skywalker did meet his father Darth Vadar/anakin skywalker before Empire Striles back in another unknown book called "Splinter of the minds eye" which is what darth vador refers to in their meeting in Empire Strikes Back when he says "So we meet again"


Darth Sidious and Palpatine are the same person.

The storm troopers are clones until you start hitting upper management.

And the storm troopers are free thinking people they are just gentically altered not to make decsions.

Even as a StarWars (+/-) freak, all these 'logical problems' remind me of another movie:
