I'm not convinced by the tactics either, but a complete lack of effort by most of our big name players meant that tactics had little to do with the outcome of the match.

When we should have been looking to the likes of Owen and Scholes, the only players showing any passion or commitment were the newcomers like Vassell and Danny Mills (ok he screwed up too..).

You could forgive these 'star' players during the build up, they had nothing to prove. I'm thinking now that maybe they just can't be bothered. David Beckham might be an utter prat, but at least when he is fit he will make an effort for his country, shame the same couldn't be said for everyone else.

I thought with the tatics chosen the team needed Teddy in it. Owen did nothing all game I couldn't understand why Vassell was taken off as he looked lively. I would have taken Owen off instead it seems that England managers all suffer from the big name syndrome. I would have also kept Becks back for the second half since he wasn't fully fit. Scholes was also hampered by the tatics and couldn't play his natural game although he did work hard.
