      Hello,

Would you please take a look at the city I live (in the "profile"), and take a map? The rainforest is 1,5 thousand miles north...

Ronaldo born in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Rivaldo next to Recife and Ronaldinho in Porto Alegre. Please just take these cities for instance...

Cafu is from the state São Paulo, Ricardinho from Curitiba...

All of those cities have 1 million people or more. They have different levels of development - some of them would really really surprise you - but... no one's here play "soccer" (it's football, because it's played with the under part of our bodies) here training with monkeys...

Sorry, I just had to reply, it's very disappointing to realize that people makes statements about a country that they barely know...

I hope not to get in conflict, all I ask is a little bit more knowledment 'bout the other countries. Besides, The World's End isn't here, it's located in Camden...

      Regards

Get out of here. The World Cup Final pulled in an audience of 1.5 billion! I thereby declare by weight of numbers football (yes football not soccer) to have free reign in this forum! Stop torturing yourself and if it looks like a footie thread don't read it

          YngwieM,

I wasn't being serous about Brazil. I was making a joke, albeit a bad one.

As for the rest of you... fine. Have it your way. Contribute to the downfall of society, the delinquency of our youth, and the moral decay of once-great nations. *shrug* it's your life.

                  Don't worry Gurm,

I know that your point in the thread was about football/soccer, about the downfall of society, the social degradation of sports (hehehe)...

Yup. I have nothing against Brazil. In ADDITION to the rainforest (which is quite magnificent) I'm sure there are lots of other nifty things that most people (myself, sadly, included) are quite ignorant of.

My non-participation in sports has nothing to do with Bill Gates, wimpiness, or geekdom. It has to do with a moral opposition to the greed, violence, and bad values perpetuated by so-called "sports".

Gurm, you bet there is. For example, in Brazil ew have on of the world's most beautiful coasts... from north to south is more than 5 thousand kilometers of coast.

Florianopolis (city wich Gustavo Kuerten was born) is a fine example. Very low violence rates, you barely can see a bum asking for food/money on the streets, and the social rates are very high. And the beaches/girls/waves/weather are GREAT!

And for nature, there're a lot of other kind of vegetations, each one with it's special beauty.

Of course, we've a lot of problems (specialy with politicians, education rates in the northern part of the country, economics hurricanes..hehe), but the more I go outside (I just came from Europe in may) the more I like here.

I recomend to anyone to come and visit.

Well, after all of this "propaganda" , I'll say that the world's love for soccer/football is all about the human nature. We can't live if we don't compete, measure our skills, and so on.

What I enjoy from sports is all the integration, suddenly you see your countryfolks playing (fairly, friendly) against another country, wich's normally if not for the sport could be very distant.
