They should change the name of the "English" system to the "American" system sense we are the only idiots left in the whole f***ing world that still use it!
The only good reason to keep it was lost, once the English went metric on their money.

          Tell NASA that! ROTFL

I use both daily... I remember back some 30 years ago in school how the country would be converted over to the Metric System by 1980. What a joke. But alas some people (including industry) refuse to embrace anything unless forced to. Sad but true.

The poll should have C: Both

We might count Money in decimal these days, but we still use Imperial measurements.
We put gallons of petrol in our cars to drive miles to buy pints of milk and pounds of meat.
We measure our height in feet and inches and our weight in pounds and stones.

I was brought up with a mixture of both systems and interchange as convenient. I tend to use millimeters for really small stuff, and feet/inches for anything bigger than about 2cm.
An inch as roughly the distance from the tip of your thumb and the knuckle. A yard is about the same as an average mans stride. A pint is just about the right amount of beer per glass, and 2 quarts is about the right amount of beer before you have to start getting other people to help you home. (or at least, its about the right amount in real aleâ„¢ or cider)

            Edit : 1 quart = 2 pints not 4. D'Oh!

If you drink proper cider (you know, the flat stuff with the bitter aftertaste and recipies that allow for the odd rat drowning in the vat) then 2 pints is enough!

Mmmmm....wish I wasnt on callout tonight. I have a bottle of Henry Westons finest in the fridge just begging to be consumed....

English doesn't borrow from other languages. It follows them down dark alleys, knocks them over, and goes through their pockets for loose grammar.

How 'bout six Long Island Iced Teas and a shot of Jack Daniels. I had to be woke up and helped in and out of the car. Oh, and pointed to the facilities. Wasn't a good idea since I don't normally drink.

750mL JD = 1 complete bender, I'll demonstrate the math which makes metric seem so much more logical than the American system...

                        1 nights' drinking = 10 hours

                        750mL / 10 hours = 75mL per hour

                        75mL / 60 minutes = 1.25mL a minute (what's the rate of an IV drip??? anyone???)

how elegant is that? OK, not very, but that'll be me getting legless tomorrow night!
Look, I know you think the world of me, that's understandable, you're only human, but it's not nice to call somebody "Vain"!

Look, we're all COMFORTABLE with the English system, but let's be honest - we need to go metric. We should even make time metric - I've read some great proposals that could eliminate daylight saving as well as metric-ize time, and make everyone happier and more efficient...
