And you only realized this NOW?????????????

I've hated WinXP for a long time now!

The only XP I like is Athlon XP.
    Titanium is the new bling!

You should be able to turn off unneeded services. Try disabling the main culprits.

This is just a way to relieve some of the bloat.

My favorite part of WinXP... the Search Companion. What used to be a simple and straight to the point file search window has been turned into an abomination, complete with a moronic animated dog that thankfully can be turned off.

Exactly. I couldn't have said it better.

I don't have many problems with XP, but that new damn search sucks First we get the bloody MS Office assistant, now an animated dog

And they were supposed to have gotten rid of "CLippy"!

Microsoft likes to move code from one place to another. Makes one wonder what happened to DOS.

TweakUI lets you return the search feature to the same as Win2k.

              Cheers

XP is good if you know how to use it's features properly

Many netowrking capabilities I find very handy especially the built in firewall !

But I do hate the search engine, thanks to TweakUI as mentioned above it can be turned to Win2K like.

                  Regards,
                  Elie

I was in on my third (re)install of XP for that day(night) and the "23 minutes left of install" message had been static for the last 10 minutes

I had the impression that XP was going to be a bloated POS even before I't ever came near my computer!

As for now I use it to Game and to test "not housebroken" apps

Their article on cutting services in 2k is here though it is not as necessary.

To think I use to not use any of the info on the screensavers. Lately I keep finding things that surprise me and subtley useful things that add up.

Btw, there are new Palladium articles out there, M$ is really going to f**k up the whole industry with this shit.
I hope there will be some really nice CPUs and MOBOs out there b4 palladium arrives so we could hang in the shades of low-tech computing as long as possible.
