No I always sell it back to the dealer if I think it was a bummer of a car. Something I always stick too that. My 2nd car I discovered had a knackered engine and needed a rebuild so I had rebuilt and modified a bit. When it went again I sold it back to the garage. They sold the next day with a completly knackered engine.

It's ok. In the end there was nothing I could suggest so I sniped at Renault, not that they don't deserve it.

I had a similar thing happen with a Peugot 306GT ... the sunroof leaked pretty badly ... (the French obviously don't know how to make a sunroof seal properly)

            Did you buy it new?
Look, I know you think the world of me, that's understandable, you're only human, but it's not nice to call somebody "Vain"!

I had a Renault once. Only good thing about that car was the motor and the seats....
(So many faults, such bad manufacturing quality)

In general the French are too busy marching through the streets of Paris complaining or setting light to foreigners to actually do much real work, especially when it comes to things like tightening screws and quality control.
However, when they do get something right its usually pretty good (insert my usual seven paragraph ode to a Citroen BX here ).
Not many manufacturers can truely seal a sunroof, they all tend to rely on drainage channels inside the sunroof. Citroen BX's are notorious for these getting blocked so the water runs down the outside of them and winds up in the rear footwells.
Very confusing until someone tells you where its coming from!

                  Pit,

There should be some drains built into the sunroof cavity, they sometimes get clogged up with crud. Try blowing the passages clear with compressed air or some pressurized water.

Nope there arn't any bar the ones that drain into the central console. The first thing I looked for.

Motor sucks as well it's a 1.4 and runs like a 1.1 you're lucky to get 36 mpg out of the darn thing.

They might not be in a place that is easily accessable.
My wife's Infinity has totaly screwed sunroof seals and
doesn't leak a drop inside the car because of the drains.
If you can get a glance at the factory repair manual
you might find a mention of them if thier location isn't
                        obvious.

If you can try to get a look at the OLD Haynes manual.
The newer Haynes manuals are being dumbed down. They've either figured theres little point telling someone how to strip and rebuild their gearbox etc or more likely been sued six ways from Sunday by some moron who's not followed the (admittedly often imprecise) instructions and bruised a finger whilst attempting to remove the cylinder head with a penknife and a bent paper clip.

Failing that look around for a Renault enthusiasts website and ask on their techie forum.
                            Try www.andyspares.com or www.aussiefrogs.com

Of course drainage holes won't help if a leak devolops where the central roof console is because the only holes there go striaght into the console. Bit of a crap design if you ask me.
The dealers story is that the threads that hold the bolts to the frame get stripped and the whole frame gets loose. I asked if it was a design fault and they said no as theres been no recall.
There solution is a whole new sunroof. Thats if they are right.
To my I think if it's a stud mounting you can get a die and tap it down to next size. If it's a screw hole you drill out to the next size up and tap that. The problem would be getting the dealer to do it.
There is someone else that can have a look but while the car is imobile there isn't anything I can do.

C´mon, I have a sunroof on my ´94 Opel Corsa and never had a single leak. I do have too much compains about the car, but that´s not one of them.
