Actually, your clone would NOT have your fingerprints. Identical twins share the same DNA but different fingerprints. Clones, one would suspect, would be much the same.

as for the clone issue, there is an very old sci-fi story i read (by Poul Anderson or Larry Niven cant remember which) titled Un-man
i am still looking for it (it is in Isaac Asimov's Supermen Collection).
It is assumed however that the clones would be an exact copy of the donor -> they would have the same fingerprints. The story goes like this, some political parties want to take over the world but they are thwarted by UN-man (as in United Nations Secret Service Man). The same man while very remarkable and nearly superhuman has nonetheless had been killed by very reliable sources a few times and yet returns back from beyond everytime.
Every feasible argument about cloning is discussed in that story including ethics. The author's view (from what i perceive) is that clones are very different individuals and are human beings (even though their genetic makeup is from a single parent rather than the normal two). Simply put they are just children identical to their parent and their siblings.
guess i am bored enuff today that i wrote a lengthy post
Life is a bed of roses. Everyone else sees the roses, you are the one being gored by the thorns.

There is no one to believe. Not at this time. if they did the cloning of course they aren't going to leak that to the public until they know nothing bad happens. That all would have sounded more intelligent if I was getting more sleep. I actually had more to say about this. but I'll have to get back with you. The mind just went blank again.
By the way, and just in case no one thought of it, when a human being is cloned, the point is to make that clone as equal as possible to the original dude. That we all know, but what really makes me shiver at the thought of cloning, is that from that moment, you are already expecting that child to have the caracters of the original, so isn't that already an enormous burden over that child and all it's futur life?
