Over the last 20 or so years there have been a lot of asbestos/asbestosis related court cases happening. The evidence is overwhelming , every one knows that the people in charge new the asbestos was hazardous and did not provide the correct protective gear...
How do those resonsible deal with it?, they drag out the court cases, and the victims die before the case finishes. They know they will lose but they end up paying out less in the long run,

How the **** can any lawyer's in those kind of situations find a justification for that,....easy $$$$

Its not an uncommon thing, Corporate lawyers are group of people that should not exist, they are social terroists paid evil empires..

Yeah, but you can say that of any profession. Think of the Saturday Night Live skit of "Your Company's Computer Guy." It is easy to make generalisms about any group of people or profession. Oh, doctors are evil! They don't care about their patients! Oh, police are evil! Oh, CEOs are evil! Oh, politicians are evil! Oh, government workers are evil! Oh, rich people are evil! Oh, the world is evil!

      GET OVER IT!!!!!!!

I agree with those who said that lawyers, like any other profession is a double edged sword.

In the case of McDonnalds (I hate them but I'll try to be bojective), let's assume thet you went to a nice place with a sauna , hot baths, massages etc. When you go to the hot bath, you put in your leg/hand to test the water only to get badly burned. What would you do ?
Now assume this has happend to countless people countless times before.

There are things considered "noarmalities". When you ask for a hot drink, you expect it to be at a certain temperature. If it's not hot enough, you'll return it. You expect hot water, not boiling water nor steam in your cup.

Just as when you ask for fish and chips, you don't expect to get 2nd degree burns in your mouth from the chips. nor you expect to get the skin burned off your fingers if you touch them.

There are many other such normalities. If someone is hurt because of an assumption, it's not always his fault for assuming.
People assume things all the time, as long as it's within the borders of normality (let the lawyers / judges / law makers decide where the boundries are) you're fine.
You get into the shower opening the cold water to the maximum in a hotel room, assuming you'll get a cold shower. If instead you got burned by a hot steam, SUE THEM !

Lawyers have no morals because society has no morals. Society has no morals because people are too weak-minded to call scum scum. People are too weak-minded to call scum scum because of political correctness. Tyrranical mind-control leading to social decay.

Let me try and reverse this...

If I break the mind control, I should be able to call some scum in a non politiclly correct way.

Then I'll be able to have morals and if many people would do the same, we'll have a better society which would lead to better laws and more justice. Hmmm....

Dancry is a stupid lowlife sumbag who feeds on antagonism cause he can't get himself off any other way. That imponent white-trash SOB !

Now I have to make the majority of the population follow my lead and hope for good

Excuse me for being OT, but what is it people here have against Dancray all of a sudden? Have I missed something or is it a joke? (Don't think so, haven't seen DC here for a while I think).

                Thank you

Among other things, Dancry thinks everything should be learned from experience.

For example, if your kid wants to touch a hot stove, either he get's 3rd degree burns, or you freeze your house so he get's slightly irritated by the heat till one of the two options happen:

                  1. He gets bored from your not-so-hot stove, thinking hot stoves aren't that hot and then get's 3rd degree burns on someone's else's stove.

                  2. Everybody dies of pneumonia or food poisoning cause the house and the food was cold.

Ah, so it's all just because of that silly "spanking/no spanking" thread?

I think everybody behaved bad in there

                        Gang,

What started off as a lighthearted post has gotten into a big heated debate, and for my part in that I apologize to the topic starter, Technoid.

I also want to say I'm LMAO at mainframe's joke.

Now, I will grant you that there are generally speaking two kinds of lawyers... good lawyers and bad lawyers. I think that's probably true with EVERY single profession in the world.

We don't bash good doctors who save lives because there are a few bad doctors who leave medical instruments in the patient when they sew them up, do we? All I'm saying is that people shouldn't just think all lawyers are bad and are just zealots for money the "cause" be damned.

Think of the chaos that would result if there were no lawyers or courts. Someone owes you money, and they refuse to pay. What are you gonna do... shoot them??? The courts are there to resolve such civil grievances and that's a good thing.

You can consider lawyers who represent rapists, murderer's, etc. "bad", and I agree. I personally wouldn't represent one. Let them fend for themselves, and hopefully get killed while in prison. On the otherhand, I would represent an innocent man or woman wrongfully charged with such crimes.

The McDonalds' case is either a you see it the way I see it or you don't... no need to argue yada yada yada. Be advised that the woman's award was substantially reduced as the jury felt she was part to blame. To those who say, "cofee is supposed to be hot"... all I have to ask is when do you draw the line? What if it was 300-F?? Is any temperature okay so long as atoms aren't being fused together?? All I can say is if it were your gonads that were melted you wouldn't be so sypathetic to McDonalds, so gimme a f'ing break.

To those who have said that the damage award will be passed on to the consumer, that may or may not be a valid point. There are too many variable to consider, such as possible insurance coverage. However, it may be worthwhile for legislatures to consider passing laws that require punitive damages be paid first out of the private assets of company executives. I'm sure that would go a long way towards ensuring companies are a lot more responsive to customer injuries.

I don't think peope are feeling sympathetic to McDonalds. I think it is more they despise lawsuits they perceive as stupid. Personally when I heard about it, I thought it was ridiculous, but since I know nothing about the case I can't really say anything.

Dogbert, speaking of holier than thou, how about Israel - the entire Middle East problem could be solved if Israel did not illegally occupy Palestinian terrority. When will Israel wise up that occupation is against the UN Charter. Terrible situation but no one seems to want to challenge Israel on it, well at least the US anyways.

Maybe a solution would be to boycott Israel like as in South Africa - that helped them wise up on apartheid.

                            Oh well, back to work.
