this is my most recent acquisition... prior to the XP that is... I bought it because I couldn't get a "polar sea blue" heatsink for the XP, so I had to buy the car to satisfy my desire for something of that colour

The Ostentatienne Opera Sedan (it was the seventies) is really big (about the size of a Chevrolet Avalanche) and really heavy (about four tons) and uses a big friggin truck engine (about 8 liters) for power. The main novelty about it is that it's really safe. There's only one door - a big hatch in the back to let people in. The style is kind of coupe-like, with blunt, slab sides and a huge hood (to cover the enormous engine) and a Rolls-Royce like Grille (it was the seventies) that stands three feet tall, and a split windshield like on cars from the thirties and forties.

The OOS is supposed to be super safe because of the 1-door layout. They put enormous side impact beams in the sides of the cars, so that you could pretty much get out alive if you were broadsided by a train. No great shakes in performance or handling, but that's safety.

The MG is one hell of a cute little toy car.
It looks like a toy, it's small as a toy but it drives like a little road monster.
I really like British sport cars, especially the Lotus family (elise anyone ?)

My dream car is a British made Italian replica of the awesome Lancia Stratos.

The elise has the same model engine as in the MGF's. It does have a few uprated parts like it's the VVC version and has some fancy things like better air filters, but underneath it's still the same 1.8 engine.

Paddy - my Rover 200 (too old to be a 25) is going back in Part exchange.

Beautiful car Steve. I'm kinda in the same boat as Zokespro so I haven't seen an MG of the year for quite a few years. Looking better than they did in the past.

They seem to be doing that a lot these days. The only car I keep seeing improvements on looks are the VW Jetta and Toyota Celica.

Hehe, I won't be posting pictures or making reference to my car when I finally acquire one later this year. It'll probably be a jalopy or my sister's ooooold Golf, if I can get it from her at a reasonable price (very close to free ). I don't care what my car looks like as long as I can get from point A to point B reliably and without spending a lot of money to service it. Petrol prices here are ridiculous, but seeing as I'll be here until at the very least next August, I'd better get a cost effective vehicle.
