Punk Rock, by definition, is musical trash. It is expressionistic. It is primal. It is moving. But it is garbage. Three chords played badly.

See my distinction? I _like_ punk music, but by my own definitions it's shit. And I know it. And I'm comfortable with it.

Music theory does not donate punk rock as musical trash. That is your opinion.

Sure it does. Three chord progressions played endlessly out of rhythm? I'm not saying it's bad, but it ain't elegant.

There I can agree with you. It isn't "elegant" if you compare it to traditional music such as classical. That's why it has the name punk. By no means do I classify this as trash though.

Ahh, see there is where we're having the problem. It's all semantics. NOW I understand.

I refer to anything which is at the bottom dregs of its category as trash.

In other categories - such as expressing a single raw emotion (usually anger, sometimes hatred or apathy) - punk is king. It is the apex of musical achievement in that area. However, in the classical musical theory area it is at the bottom of the barrel.

I analyze first, and enjoy second. It's a shortcoming I have.

Well I'm glad we have an understanding with all of that now.

So did anyone ever look up Hayden and if so what did you think?

Only in classical music will you find it all - every sentiment, every expression conceivable. And recordings are usually
I'm starting to see a lot of those qualities develop in certain industrial works. It's really intriging.

I supposed that. It seems pretty obvious that a Spiral Dragon favorite album is Drak side of the moon

However, I have not a favorite album. Well, not that true.
I love Delicate Sound of Thunder, mainly because it's an "entertainment" album you can always listen to work or while driving and so on. I've tryed to listen for example at Ummagumma while working, but...

I really love Roger Waters, even if I only have listened to Amused to Death and Radio Kaos, and I prefer the first. It's amazing!

Even that depends. There are bands/musicians coming from punk rock that can play guitar and not only three chords.

                                Wombat:

I hear ya about industrial music. There are some MIGHTY talented one-man-bands in the industrial scene (most/all of them being German), Wumpscut being the first one that jumps into my head. Wreath of Barbs is one the best discs I have ever heard. Much more feeling in that kinda music than in most. A lot of people tend to think of industrial as cold hard noise (and some of it is), but they're missing out on the good stuff. You ever listen to any industrial music there Gurm?
