Tired of the regular style win2k bootup logo? Use this cool Parhelia logo instead, created by a Hellmut, a fellow murcer (thx Hellmut!).
first, download reshack, which is able to change the bootup logo in the win2k kernel:
next, download the parhelia logo I attached to this post.
Copy the file "ntoskrnl.exe" in your winnt\system32 dir to "ntoskrn1.exe" (notice the 1 instead of the l. If you're using a different name, make sure the filename stays the same in DOS 8.3 format, otherwise it won't work ).. Start reshack, and load the ntoskrn1.exe file. Go to the action menu, and select "Swap bitmap". Point to the Parhelia logo, and press 'replace', and save the updated ntoskrn1.exe in reshack.
Edit your boot.ini so that the bold line is added in the same style as the rest of your boot.ini:
[boot loader]
timeout=0
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Microso ft Windows 2000 Parhelia" /fastdetect /kernel=ntoskrn1.exe
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Microso ft Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect
Now reboot and enjoy the new logo!
