Correct. When I say "instantaneous", I mean of course that the quantum changes to the particles happen instantaneously, not that we can measure those changes, or effect them, instantaneously.

And while it wouldn't work for something like the Internet or broadcast TV, it would certainly be great for cable and dialup applications. You have low-latency, megaband connection to the 'net, no matter where in the universe you are! No wires!

As for the matter of "not dropping the entangled particles", it's more likely that there would be small units - little holding tanks of entangles particles that the receiver and transmitter could act on and measure. You wanna talk to station X, just snap station X's tank into your comm unit!
