    More serious here

    Just outa curiosity:

Following my last post here and the arrival on the "404 rating" page, I had to leave my office/pc. As usual, my machine is left runing 24/7 with OE collecting mail every now and again.

First time after my arrival on the 404 page thingy when OE ran, I started getting e-mails with "Hahaha" in the senders field and a file called "dwarf4you.exe" infected with the W98.hybris.worm attached in addition to a Snowhite joke story.

Anybody else seeing the same - or is this just a really strange coinsidence?

Yes NAV2002 did catch and quarintine it, so no real harm done.

Good thing you mention it here !
I have not experienced problems, but I'm running Opera 6 (as browser) and Netscape 6 (as mail client) on W2K. Norton has not given me any warning (nor did I get any mails).
It would seem strange to me how they would manage to know your emailadres just when visiting a website..?

Well, if you're running an unpatched (in other words - VERY unsecure) version of M$ Internet Exterminator, anything could happen.

          No - running W2K+SP2, IE6, behind a firewall (Norton4) , and through a proxy as well.

The "cool test" is (was) posted on my domain that seems to be down @ the moment! I can assure you that the site does not contain any programs or files that will infect your computer!
BTW got 71 on the pull test!

Well it wouldn't work my case as all none work addressed emails get deleted. Cuts spam out altogether.

Guru - Not blaming anybody around here man - just asking.

I was thinking that Norton was not doing anything for the last about 4 months because this is the first bad one I received in that time, and I obviously had to ask the question "Why now and what strange thing is the last thing that happened on my machine"

Pit - its nice if one can handle it that way, but wife has her own interests as well, and my "office" is in part of the workshop at home where I also indulge myself now and again.
