  • European court of human rights

Following on their decision that prison governers couldn't increase prisoners sentances for bad behaviour. They have now decided that detaining suspect terroists without trail was unlawful. The basis seems to be that it included only none Britons. Apparently these prisoners, according to Blunket are able to leave at anytime and that the evidence was detailed and compelling.
Perhaps the Court of human rights should maybe consider that we're trying to stop Briton being known as the terrorist haven of the world.

And our fellow Europeans wonder why Britain is so skeptical about the fabled European superstate..

I think we should do what Fance does and ignore any rules it doesn't like.

I remember something about mad cow disease... IIRC, british politicians have blockaded many decisions in the EU as a "protest" against export restrictions for british beef.

Correct me if I'm wrong, please.

Would that be the export restrictions that were ordered lifted a couple of years ago, but France still upholds on the grounds that it can ignore the EU whenever its convenient?

I'm not saying france is any better, I was just replying to "we could do as france does" - you already have! Not that germany has never done stupid things in the EU...

I just think either you are in a band and you play together with the others, or you get out of it and try to start a solo career.

Yes wasn't that when Germany and France ignored EE rulings themselves?? France still do so I think we should follow there lead.

Yes but we do follow the rules unlike others or so it's reported here.

I really think we europeans should stop pointing fingers at each other and say "they did it too". We should just start working together a little more, and be productive for once.

The sad part is that some of us felt the EU was doomed from the outset. I hate being right about stuff like that.

Well I don't think it's quite doomed yet. What you will get is closer intergration and then some states will start being treated as 2nd class and demand more independance. Eventually it will go in a full circle and you end up with indepandant states again.

Going back to european court it suffers heavily from Dancrayism and forgets the rights of the victimns and in this case possible future victimns.

Yeah it is a sad day when the rights of criminals is uphelp over the rights of the victims or future victims.
