  • Dumb "Athletes"

I know some of you have defended "athleticians" in the past. But this one takes the cake.

Kobe Bryant (sp?), when asked recently if he would participate in any more NBA all-star slam dunk thingermabobs, said...

"No, I'm too old. Maybe down the road, though."

    What...

    The...

    ****?

Someone, PLEASE force-feed this boy some IQ points? PLEASE?

Kobe Bryant proves my theory of dumb athletes.

Iverson proves my theory of criminal athletes.

Someone, PLEASE show me a real, honest-to-God smart athlete with a clean record. Please?

I play softball every Tuesday night. Does that count?
Of course my "smarts" may be debatable, but I'm sure I've never been arrested.

Roger Staubach, Joe Montana, Steve Largent. All these guys seem reasonably intelligent and I don't think any of them have done anything seriously illegal (Largent's in congress now so I might be mistaken there.)

They are all retired though, so I don't know if they count. Nice to know that at least there was one time when you could find a pro athlete who might have been worth looking up to..

Al Kaline, Bill Freehan, Karl Yastrzemski, Gates Brown, Don Zimmer, Willie Horton, Johnny Bench, "Stormin'" Norman Cash, Steve Yzerman, Kris Draper, Sergei Federov, Brett Hull....

and the legions of pro sports stars that have over the years quietly devoted hundreds of hours of their time and millions of dollars to charity and their communities with little or no fanfare or felony convictions.

It's always the ****oles that get all the attention, but fortunately they are a small minority.

You can't get any dumber athletes than german football (the real football, played with the foot and a ball) players.

I can't remember many things they said and these are not easily translated, but they say VERY stupid things on a VERY regular basis.
