anyone going to oktoberfest

I will be going for 5 days, but getting accomodation is turning into a nightmare.
was hoping to catch the start , but It looks like there won't be any acomodation to stay in.

, any suggestions on an affordable place to try?

you can try here for general accomodation infos in Munich.

But to be honest, i would try to get a hotel or room outside of Munich, because it's expensive as hell during the Oktoberfest.

If you don't mind driving with the train for about 40 minutes (so you can really enjoy the beer ;-) ), then try the following:

- Weilheim
Weilheim has a direct train connection to Munich, their website is http://www.weilheim.de . You can email to veranstaltungsbuero@weilheim.de for more infos. Wweilheim is south of Munich

- Augsburg
Augsburg too has a direct train connection (approx. 45 minutes). Go to http://www.regio-augsburg.de/maine.html for more informations. Augsburg is northwest of Munich
