They can win all they want. The defendants are for the most part members of a different sovereign country. I certainly don't expect them to pay. I think it's pretty silly that they're going to try to take Saudis to a US civil court.

Any victory would at most involve siezure of any US based holdings to sell to settle the terms of the case.

Could still run into the billions of dollars, tho.

This even getting a preliminary hearing is a pretty long shot.

it is a long shot... especially considering that OBL family have disinherited him..... and (i hope this don’t start a flam war) it is quite an arrogant move especially coming from the US ... the same country that has given these "terrorist" organizations a reason to exist due to their double standards.... but i have to admit ... its better than bombing the hell out of them and thus incurring further civilian casualties... war sux ... terrorism sux too... there is absolutely no reason for civilians to die because some people can’t find a better way to deal with their problems (i.e. the "terrorists") and because a country a certain government is wants to play the world game according to its own rules (i.e. the USA)....

hell we are not ****ing barbarians... we are civilized human beings (the entire population of the world, no exceptions) or so we are told... so it is high time to live up to our title......

then again drawing comparisons between medieval times and now I’d say not much has really changed.... at least in "foreign" policy...
