      Actually, why hasn't natural gas taken off in cars, whether it's for fuel cells or normal internal combustion? There would be a much reduced need for refueling stations, since it's already piped directly to the houses of a great deal of the population. Just hook up a valve in your garage, and you can refuel right at home. For long highway trips, you'd need gas stations, but you could probalby get rid of 90% of the downtown gas stations, freeing up some very valuable land. Seems silly not to take advantage of a clean(er) resource that already has a huge infrastructure in place.
