        Oops!

So, where did the list come from? Is it yours - referring to mates and "mates"? Or from the 'intrenot' thing on my Windows 95 desktop?!

Wow, my name is listed three times . I think I'll go with the Andy description, even though I usually go by Andrew. I'm certainly no Drew

I found this site more interesting than a subjective listing made by.....Liz?

Find the meaning, history and popularity of given names from around the world. Get ideas for baby names or discover your own name's history.

my name is cool in nature/historically take a peek
              ALFRED m /AL-fred/ English, French
"elf counsel" from Old English ælf "elf" combined with ræd "counsel". Alfred the Great was a 9th-century king of Wessex who fought unceasingly against the Danes who lived in the northeast of England. He was also a scholar, and he translated many Latin books into Old English. His popularity helped to ensure the usage of this

name even after the Norman conquest (when most Old English names were replaced by Norman ones).
