Perhaps on the moon we can begin to make this dream a reality. Within 15 years, assuming we put all our efforts to it, we could bring down launch costs to the point that a lunar colony could be established. Colonists would then invest many years of work to earn the cost of the trip. A Kibutz style organization could operate very efficiently in a resource-starved environment, where no ownership is taken up by the individual, and any and all money is used to purchase necessary things from the Earth. No colonial matters need use money as a system...perhaps....let me know what you think....
Let us return to the moon, to stay!!!

We still can't live on the moon guys. Lack of gravity will have terrible effects on our bone density.

....but assuming we have no intention of returning....a lack of bone density should hardly matter...plus a thorough regimen of calcium and strenuous activity can compensate somewhat...

The ideal location for such a colony would be near the rim of Shackleton Crater near the South Pole of the moon. 200C above zero and 100% solar illumination for half the year and 88% illumination for the other half. 25ft away you have no illumination yearround and a sufficient supply of Hydrogen....

...while on the subject, I indeed intend to become a lunar colonist within 15-25 years...and I am working to make dreams into reality....

That yearround solar illumination is important for the placement of solar panels and the cold of the permanantly dark craters for retention of light gases that are useful to a colony....when those run out, comets will have to be diverted to lunar orbit...

Recient NASA medical studies have found that acoustical stimulation in the freq range of ~1-30 Hz significantly improves bone retention. The cellular structure of bone is indeed inherent to the everyday stresses we put on them like walking jumping running etc. In a low G or zero G enviroment these stresses don't happen and thus the excellerated bone losses occur.

How this was discovered was by medical researchers looking into why the elderly, bed ridden and wheelchair bound loose bone mass.

Never happen. The urge to dominate each other is written into our genome as indelibly as our opposible thumbs. Don't believe me? Just re-read some of these threads!
