The movie "Takedown" is just about the only one I've seen where this stuff is depicted almost realistically, with Win 3.1, Unix and all...my favorite computer bullshit movie is Swordfish
takedown is pretty good for a computer movie. 23 (german movie ) is also quite realisitic. antitrust is a bit cheesy but at least we see a linux shell in action once, plus claire forlani
Office Space had a couple funny shots. I remember a PC that had been running Word or WordPerfect suddenly displaying Mac graphics for a diskette copy.
Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.
most of the other I coe to think about has already been mentioned
If there's artificial intelligence, there's bound to be some artificial stupidity.

I recall the girl working the computer and she mentions.... this is a UNIX system....and all you see on the screen are a bunch of graphics that represents the commands or something like that. That's no Unix system that I was aware of.

Actually, that 3d-file browser does exist. I believe it was made by SGI as some kind of experiment.
This sig is a shameless atempt to make my post look bigger.
Actualy it was other things in JP that I was thinking about....

What about the "more realistic" movies ?
The ones in which a hacker's skill = typing skill ?
When you're hacking, you type normally and sometimes wait for your scanner/etc to finish. In the movies, the more pressure you put on the hacker, the faster he types => the faster he hacks !
Incredible...! I know a few secretaries that could hack any system in the world in les than 40 seconds using nothing but Windows 95 and Word
An addition to TDB's remark...
Have you noticed how the hackers in the movies are often surrounded by beautifull women (or a girlfriend) ? And mostly, these women give out specific hints that help the hacker; even moreso, the women are actually interested in their work .
Don't know about you guys, but I don't experience that as reality...

Yeah VJ, in reality, most girls are just like the one in that Apple Switch - Ellen Feiss ad - http://www.sharereactor.com/release.php?id=2237 ... (on a side note, I have never used a Mac, but after seeing this, I am quite sure I will never want to use one.)
Someday, we'll look back on this, laugh nervously and change the subject.
