...and BTW, the UN has never been vested with any real authority because it's members want to keep that for themselves. You might say the UN was given balls but no dick...
How can you possibly take anything seriously?

I'm suprised this thread hasnt been locked yet....

Personally, I'd like to see Saddam Insane deposed from power and replaced by someone who isnt a meglomanic despot, but however, I dont think this is a good time for the US to send in the Marines.
The Israel/Palestine situation is very sticky right now, which has all the arab/muslim countries very upset.
And thanks to Bin Laden every would-be terrorist in the world has had a good example of just how easily they can cause panic and mayhem in the countries of their enemies.
Although we in the UK have lived with the threat if the IRA or similar groups blowing people up for decades, I'd rather not have to give every person with a brown face a very wide berth just in case he's going to blow up.

If push comes to shove and the US does start shooting, I'd rather the UK backed them to the hilt and got the damn thing over with as quickly as possible.

...live here, not from here. Seems my ancestors immigrated to "New England" in 1661, but me, I'm from where I am.

Neferious answer, but I don't know a better one...

Hehe, since we don't have real snow here, we go to Europe while you run away from the snow and go to the sea

...you got THAT right! And it's not the snow we cut out on, it's long periods of hanging, damp, cold gray, brrrr! Gets in the bones. The German words for cruelty, horrible, etc. have their root in grau, gray. Might explain some of the cruel and horrible things that have happened. How much gray can you take?

I've heard that when you check suicide statistics around the world, the places with the grayest weather suffer the most cases of suicides.

woooh boy this thread is getting ugly it can only be seconds until it gets locked.

They've had the living shit pounded out of them with millions and millions dead. They've finally learned some moderation and a great deal of caution. America may have that yet to learn.
                        i very much agree.

other than their are too much emotions in this thread.

Most of us in the US have learned over to years to live with the old saying "Damned if you do and damed if you don't". We know that there are going to be people who will complain if we don't do anything and those that will complain if we do. So we have learned that we just have to do what we feel is right and to hell with what everyone else thinks. Just look at the Gulf War of the early 90's. Some of those complaining now that we should have done something then are also the very ones who complained that we shouldn't have done anything then.

Up until now this has been a pretty descent discussion with the typical anti-American statements from the ones who regularly spout this crap but I can see like others that this can get out of hand very quickly. I will though at this point leave this thread open but if it does continune to go down hill then I will close it.

hmm very interesting indeed, i never realized it. but as of now only grausam and grauenvoll comes to my mind.
i think the highest suicide rate is in the scandinavian countries though during the winter when the days are short. other countries have this so called winter depression too though.
