I dont realy hang out in the soap box much, so dont know if anybodys interested in this, but I got some insider info from Wetafx last night.
First and formost, Shelob isnt going to be in the Two Towers
She will turn up in the 3rd movie though.
The Ents are absolutely amazing. Apparently if you are standing a foot away from the models, you cant tell they arnt real.
They turn over between 1 and 1.2 TERABYTES! of data a day!
They have 'monthly' showings for staff, and the computer to show the outtakes are quite fancy. Each frame is about 12MB in size, and there are (24? 30?) frames per second. Imaging the raid array running that. Remember that 288MB/sec has to be substained!
They hand over the film to NewLine in 3 weeks from now, so things are getting close.
They have 4.5 hours of full footage, which they have to cut down to the 3 hour limit imposed by NewLine. The special extended DVD version will have the whole lot.
Im sure there was some other stuff, but I cant remember it at the moment.
