So, a couple weeks back, there was a TV movie version of "Lathe of Heaven" starring James Cahn, Lucas Haas (big surprise since his dad directed), Lisa Bonet, and David Straithairn.
And... it was soundly panned by critics and fans alike.
Now, I concur that the original PBS movie (which is now available on DVD) was substantially better, and of course the book is a masterpiece.
But what didja all think? Julie hated it - didn't get it (I admit I might not have quite gotten it from that version either if I hadn't read it first).
But I liked it, despite its shortcomings. Maybe I just appreciated the visual style or the M. Knight Shyamalan (sp?) style of pacing, but it affected me. (Course I _was_ hopped up on good drugs at the time, and consequently had bizarro dreams about it!)
So, let's hear what you thought. If A&E fails to rerun it, y'all can see it in about 3 weeks when it hits on DVD (am I the only one irked by how fast made-for-tv movies hit DVD nowadays, when Indiana Jones is still "in production"?).
