  • Found in a resume online....

    During a search I found this in a resume;

    AWARDS

    NASA Technical Award: April, 2000 “Adaptive Camouflage” (Renders vehicles invisible, permits shape shifting.)

    CLEARANCE

    Current - Top Secret with Special Intelligence access
    Guess he didn't read the part about being careful when detailing his awards

    Related quote from a defense related university site;

    Visual and Infrared Detection

    .... Camouflage technologies exist that can significantly reduce visual and IR detection ranges. These include passive paints and coatings and smart chameleon coatings that adapt to the background environment. These technologies have been proven for both air and land based applications ....
    From other things I'm reading it looks like there is a fabric that does the same thing.

    Talk about the element of suprise....

                Adaptive camo would be a bit of fun, esp. for HS boys who wanted to sneak into the girls shower....at least 'til it got wet

                Problem is that as it gets closer they say it looks like there is a heat wave approaching. It would still be a pretty major advantage for infiltration units & such.

                Can you imagine having an electric armored vehicle with adaptive camo? Don't laugh. I ran into a reference in a public DARPA document about just such a thing....

                    Don't think its bullshit. The documents I found are either government (DARPA = Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency & law enforcement), public Senate and House defense commitee reports or universities affiliated with military research.

                          Actually that special effect in the movie Predator was what promted the military to R&D such technologies.
