    That's a damn huge ballisic calculation at that range.

      You should see the sighting mechanisms they use

      Most likely that sniper was using a Barrett BMG 50 cal rifle of some type;

      We’re the original online gun dealer. Find thousands of guns for sale at low prices. Buy your guns, ammo, and gun accessories with confidence at Impact Guns.

      or the AIM 1500/Daisy 600 (yes, the BB gun makers);

      I have two .50 cal weapons here: a .50 Desert Eagle auto pistol and a .50 Hawken black powder rifle that can shoot a 180 grain ball, a 575 grain bullet or a 500 grain antimony hardened sabot (nice for shooting through trees).

      Not the type of ammo used in the .50 sniper rifles, but damn...those big bullets hit hard

        Problem with using a .223 or 5.56mm bullet for Sniping is that if I remember my facts right (From M16A2 while in the Army) the Max Range is around 800-1200 yards and max effective range is about 500 yards. I know for a fact I have a hell of a time seeing a Target (with Iron Sights though) at 300 yards. This guy would be better off shooting at 200 yards or less since the target is larger and still has a decent amount of room between him/her and the target.
        Why is it called tourist season, if we can't shoot at them?

          ...dunno. I had a BB gun at 10, a .22 at 13, a shotgun, .58 cal. musket, bolt action Enfield, muzzle loading shotgun, block loading shotgun, 30-30 Winchester, .22 Hornet with scope, Mannlicher with scope, .22 Ruger single action, Army .45, double barrel 12 gauge Purdy, muzzle loading horse pistol from 1748, and a few other gizmos at 15. I could hit anything I looked at with any of them.

          I could well imagine a 17 year-old loner who is flatning his emotions 'til he gets to his parents.

              ...nothin. Been there, done that. Been on the recieving end a few times. That hurts.

              Should an occassion arise, lotsa martial arts 'n a pair of nunchakas, ballpoint pen, chopsticks, blunt objects, whatever's handy...

              Found out that if you're lookin for trouble, you'll find it. So I stopped looking...

                      The pit, most trouble can be avoided. But since it'll usually make you think it'll cost your dignity (read hurt your EGO), you're not always ready to 'pay'.

                      I know, I've been there. But sometimes a bruised ego is better that a bruised body part...

                        I find that being bigger than most others helps.

                          ...once met an 85 year old under five foot Akido master who disarmed and matted six big 20-30 year olds...

                            It's the psychological effect of being big

                            Most people who are into pointless violence aren't too intelligent...

                            For the record, I'm 1.63 m and have never once been hit by anyone. You CAN avoid it.

                              Exactly. Infact being big means I have learnt better than most how to be:

                              a) very sensitive to how threatening one can be, and how e.g. on dark streets single women walking really appreciate you making it very very obvious that you are NOT a threat

                              b) that there is a skill in putting people at ease by subtle actions and hence diffusing many situations

                                I have a question... how do you make it very obvious that you are not a threat? I'm small, but my eyes and brows always look like I'm very angry. And oftentimes I think I smile, and then people ask me "why are you so angry?"
