Bodes law: a formula for calculating the distances of the planets from the sun.
Starting with 0 then 3 then 6 extend the sequence by doubling the last number: 0, 3, 6, 12, 24, 48, 96, 192, 384, 768. Next assign a number to each planet in order starting with Mercury and counting the asteroid belt as a "planet";
0 = Mercury
3 = Venus
6 = Earth
12 = Mars
24 = Asteroid Belt
48 = Jupiter
96 = Saturn
192 = Uranus
384 = Neptune
768 = Pluto
Pick any planet & add 4 to its number and divide by 10. The result is how many Astonomical Units (A.U.) that planet is from the sun. 1 A.U. is the distance between Earth and the Sun; ~93 million miles.
Ex: the number for Mars is 12. 12 + 4 = 16; 16/10 = 1.6
Mars is ~1.6 A.U from the sun; 1.6 x 93 = 148.8 million miles.
The average distance from the Sun to Mars is about 150 million.
