How do you recognise people's posts inside threads ?
Using their username or avatar ?
Are you a little confused when some people change their avatars ?

Not everybody has an avatar so it's 50-50 for me.

Edit: Also since the network is slow to load the pages I don't see the avatars until a few seconds later, so my difinitive answer is the username.

Well with all the jiggly boobed avatars it's hard to keep track that way, however I do know one person we all recognize by avatar

Normally I take a quick scan of the avatars to see who responded in the thread. Then I start reading.

I (usually) recognise people by their avatar so I don't bother reading their name. Distinctive avatars (like Ant, Gurm, Joel, the 3 bumpers, lecter, jam, wombat, richl etc. etc. etc.) are very easy to recognise even when fast scrolling through a thread.

When people change their avatar, it takes me a few minutes to adapt though.

So in order to keep you completely clueless, I will have to change my avatar every few minutes?

Okay, now to your poll... I read both books and comics, I also recognize people like you, Zokes, Joel and dZeus by your avatars. Then there are suckers like myself who can't make up their mind and change their avatars on a weekly if not daily basis. Those I have no other way of recognizing than reading their usernames, because I generally don't read sigs (also the reason why I don't have a sig, most of the time... I don't believe that anyone will actually read them).

Personally I love my avatar and I don't want to change it anytime soon, but I love to see new avatars fnow and then, especially when Liz and Tempest change them.

Lecter's and Byocks are pretty cool too!

Then there's the classics, Gurm, Technoid, Dogbert, Sasq, etc..

I read sig's when MURC slows down.

                  Cool, I'm a Classic!

But my Avatar has been refined over the year

I have to say Avatar. It is bigger, and since I am on a OC3, it is up instantly. I read the names when I dont recogize an avatar.

OC3? Sweet. We have 66 T1 lines at work. Boo! But then again you can't blame em for going with that. Nobody has upgraded the communication lines in over 60 years!! Things are improving slowly in my city.

Why Gotenks? Vegeta is so much cooler.
