Well in the UK life in prison doesn't actually mean life in prison unfortunately. That is unless you are innocent the chap mentioned above was sentenced to 15 years but served 25 for proclaiming his innocence.

Although Hindley was actually sentenced to life she had apparently "served her term" some ten years ago so being the reformed God fearing sole she now was she should have been free. There is some law going through now which I think would put a maximum span on life sentences after which time the lifer will go free.

How could she be let free?

Theres an act going through parliment and house of lords that will prevent home secretaries from making decisions over sentances. So if a dodgy judge gives an multi murder a one year sentance the home secretary can no longer increase the sentance as they did for Myra.
Life should be life.
